Glasgow’s Fallen Son: A Tribute to George Donaldson
01/Feb/1968 – 12/Mar/2014

I drank a Guinness in his honor
to fuel his memory
to cherish all that mattered
in his peace and harmony:
a friend he was to all he knew
and loved to entertain…
from bus building to singing,
he found his passion’s flame.

His eyes always twinkled,
and his smile would show
how his joy and his love
brought a fiery glow
to the whole of his being
with vigor and zest –
it was the best of both worlds
that he always possessed.

Although I cannot fathom
or understand the why,
his life was cut short,
and it caused us to cry;
his humble demeanor
and his kind gentle manners
gave way to the craic
and the jovial banter.

His great on-stage presence as he sung from the heart
always deserved our attention and utmost respect,
and his Sunday gigging at Jinty’s when home
was not something he’d ever forget…
and yet as a husband, a father,
brother, uncle and son,
he only ever had eyes for his ladies,

as they were always his #1 loves.
